If there was ever a model that the world drooled over due to her mature features that were as close to god-like as possible, it would have to have been that of Brazilian model and actress Adriana Lima, best known for gracing the catwalks of Victoria’s Secret fashion shows. The 5’10 34-year-old mother of 2 with blue eyes and dark brown hair is beyond sexy and she knows it, having taken second place at the “Supermodel of the Year” competition from the age of 16, only after taking first place for the Brazil competition only the year before. Now, Adriana Lima is the first Victoria’s Secret Angel ever to have a life-size wax figure at Madame Tussauds unveiled the other day!
One cannot help but fall in love with the woman that is the perfect mixture of Portuguese-Brazilian, Swiss, African, Japanese, and Indigenous populations, making ripples in the modelling world from the tender age of 15, when she was discovered. Since then, her runway modelling career has included walking for the likes of Cía Maritima, Agua de Coco, Lino Villaventura, Giorgio Armani, Balmain, Vera Wang, Valentino, Givenchy, Versace, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Victoria’s Secret, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Desigual, Anna Sui, Guy Laroche, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, Escada, Nanette Lepore and many others.
Today, Adriana Lima is introduced to something that fully immortalizes her, this time the medium encapsulating her image of pure beauty being a wax statue that is a spitting image of the infamous model. The life sized wax figure has been unveiled at Madame Tussauds New York, the meaning behind the gesture ringing loud and clear: Lima has reached the celebrity benchmark, becoming famous enough that people will pay to be able to come and see a replica of her, just an image in 3D form that captures her outer façade. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Barack Obama, Lance Armstrong, Elvis and a whole slew of others have similar wax figurines of themselves all over the place, but Adriana Lima is the very first Victoria’s Secret Angel to earn herself a spot among the many greats immortalized in wax.
The best part is that Lima was certainly not expecting to be made into wax, but this was a grand gesture by her many fans who had nominated her time and again as she walked her 15th show this year, truly making the year all the more special for the gorgeous woman who looks even better now that she has borne children to this world. “[When] I found out that it all came about through fan requests, I almost cried. What an incredible honor and gift from people who have supported me throughout my career.”
Once the email was received from Tussauds, it was only a matter of ensuring perfection, the final product having involved multiple sculptors and hundreds of precise physical measurements to ensure that all the proportions had been done correctly. Now we have an uncanny resemblance to Lima herself standing in wax, ready to greet visitors and offer those who would never otherwise get a chance to meet her the opportunity to have their photos taken. We would like to thank Tussauds as well for this marvelous undertaking, as Lima is certainly a lady who deserves to be immortalized.
